With a huge disappointment on how many people in the nowadays society taken this magnificent invention, the Blu-Tack, for granted, the many wheels whirled and cause more questions to ask how the Blu-Tack is made and most importantly its effectiveness. Eventually the student research project was the effectiveness of Blu-Tack according to the stickiness of it on holding a poster in hot conditions.
Being invented by a laboratory researcher called Austin Carpenter who wanted to make another sealant product, made Blu-Tack instead. Til now the secret of how and what Blu-Tack have not been revealed.
Since this topic is related towards hot conditions, heat has to be used in this experiment. Convection, radiation and conduction was all researched The final methods decided to be used were using the stove fire, steam of hot water and a table lamp.
Despite having the results supporting the hypothesis made in the beginning of the research, the hypothesis should have been more detailed. The results also did not answer the topic question. It was said that the methods should have been changed and that there were a few careless errors during the conduction of the experiment.
Discovering how heat can greatly affect Blu-Tack’s stickiness, it can affect the durability of it. During the experiment, it was discovered that the more heat is directed at the Blu-Tack, the stickier it will get. This allows the poster to be stuck onto the wooden lid longer but the more it gets stickier, the more unusable it gets. This will ruin the Blu-Tack and therefore not be able to use again since it lost its stickiness. No wonder the package tells users to put them in a cool environment. This proves that the stickiness of Blu-Tack is one greatest factor in the effectiveness of it.
